Metabolic flexibility is the body’s ability to switch fuel use based on nutrient availability and exercise intensity. Maximal Fat Oxidation (MFO) is a key marker and is often used as a proxy for efficient fat utilisation (San-Millán et al., 2017; 2018). Carbohydrate-restricted, ketosis-inducing strategies may support cognitive outcomes in some contexts (El-Zein et al., 2022).

Bioception is our term for the subconscious “signal” transmitted by natural landscapes—consistent with research showing green/blue exposure supports stress reduction and attention restoration (Kaplan, 1995). EGOOS live labs run inside Val Morosina: an 800-hectare historic wetland and fishery in the Po Delta (MAB UNESCO area), operating since 1670.

In professional cycling, two factors dominate: relative power (power/weight) for climbing speed, and power at 2 mmol/L lactate, which largely determines endurance.
